Lee S. Goldwich (pronounced gold-witch) is a Private Investigator 1 and Insurance Adjuster 2  licensed in the state of Florida. He founded Colt Investigations Agency in 1983 (which later became Horizon Investigations)3, Horizon Protective Services in 2003, Horizon Process Service Plus in 2004, Intelligent Video Technologies in 2010, co-Founded Proven Investigations, LLC.4 in 2011, CounterThreat, LLC. 5 in 2014, and is the Chief Operating Officer of CounterThreat Consulting 6. He has over 35 years of experience in the fields of Security, Investigations and Insurance Claims.


Training

Air Force Badge

Goldwich, a Miami native, received his initial training in the United States Air Force. He graduated with honors from the USAF Law Enforcement Training School (1979)7 and the Wichita Falls Texas Police Academy (1981)8.


Professional Career

After his Honorable Discharge in 1983, he returned to Florida, obtained his Private Investigator’s License, and established Colt Investigations Agency (later known as Horizon Investigations). He gained insurance training working for an independent insurance adjusting company, and received his All-Lines Insurance Adjuster license in 1985. He is a Florida Certified Investigator9, one of less than 60 as certified by the Florida Board of Certified Investigators.

Mr. Goldwich has worked on behalf of some of the world’s largest and most respected Corporations, Insurance Companies, Cruise Lines, Shipping Companies, and P & I Clubs, as well as some of the nation’s top Attorneys and Law Firms. He specializes in casualty and maritime investigations and has investigated thousands of cases, including hundreds involving serious injuries and deaths. He has trained and supervised hundreds of investigators and has personally been involved as the lead investigator in all types of insurance matters, corporate disputes, domestic situations, and criminal cases. He has been called to testify in depositions, hearings and trials, in State, Federal and Military Courts.

Mr. Goldwich is a graduate of the United States Air Force Law Enforcement Academy and the Wichita Falls Police Academy. He attends seminars, courses and trade shows to keep current with industry trends and to constantly update his continuing educational requirements for both his Private Investigator and Insurance Adjuster licenses.

The program establishes high standards of knowledge in the practice of private investigations. The requirement of continuing education demands instruction in Professional Conduct and Ethics, Investigative Technique, Statutory Compliance and Investigative Legal Issues. Florida Certified Investigators elevate the standards for the industry.

In seeking and maintaining the FCI designation the investigator is making a commitment to be among the best in the profession and to continue their education. FCI investigators are making a statement to the public and their clients that they are committed to maintaining high standards for themselves and the profession. FCI investigators have worked hard to achieve experience and reputations for excellence and continue with these efforts through the Continued Education Requirements of the program. The designation of FCI is a much sought certification that the public can have faith in and the investigator can market either to client or employer. The FCI certification program concentrates on the fields of:

  • Professional Conduct & Ethics
  • Investigative Legal Issues
  • Investigative Techniques
  • Statutory Compliance

The FCI certification is obtained through the demonstration of:

  • A minimum of three years of practical investigative experience with at least one of those years as a Florida licensed investigator or in-house investigator not requiring licensure
  • Three professional letters of recommendation attesting to the investigative ability and suitability for certification
  • Successful completion of a written competency examination

The FCI certification is maintained by attending a minimum of twenty hours of continuing education every two years.
